RESUMEN

Desde los años noventa del pasado siglo se ha recurrido al término “europeización” para referirse el impacto de la integración europea en las instituciones, las políticas públicas y las representaciones de la realidad de los estados miembros, sin embargo, el concepto de europeización es más complejo ya que abarca el conjunto de interacciones recíprocas entre los estados miembros y la propia Unión Europea. Es más, por su valor de uso se ha extendido su utilización a múltiples objetos de estudio, trascendiendo a ámbitos como el espacio público o las culturas políticas, con desiguales resultados dados la cada vez mayor dificultad de definir categorías concretas para su implementación. A todo ello, por supuesto, no ha sido ajena la carga semántica positiva o negativa atribuida al termino en función de la evolución del proceso de construcción europea. Por todo ello, el estudio de la europeización debe abordarse desde una perspectiva amplia y compleja más allá de las dificultades epistemológicas y limitaciones metodológicas señaladas. Una situación que como no puede ser de otra manera, ha alcanzado a la agenda de investigación de los historiadores y a la producción historiográfica sobre Historia de Europa y más en particular sobre la integración europea en direcciones poco previsibles a finales del siglo pasado.

ABSTRACT

Since the nineties of the last century, the term “Europeanization” has been used to refer to the impact of European integration on the institutions, public policies and representations of the reality of the member states; however, the concept of Europeanization is more complex since it covers the set of reciprocal interactions between the member states and the European Union itself. Furthermore, due to its use value, its use has been extended to multiple objects of study, transcending areas such as public space or political cultures, with uneven results given the increasing difficulty of defining specific categories for its implementation. All of this, of course, has not been immune to the positive or negative semantic load attributed to the term depending on the evolution of the European construction process. For all these reasons, the study of Europeanization must be approached from a broad and complex perspective beyond the epistemological difficulties and methodological limitations indicated. A situation that, as it could not be otherwise, has reached the research agenda of historians and the historiographic production on the History of Europe and more particularly on European integration in directions that were not very predictable at the end of the 20th century.
